The real reason African youth aren’t landing tech jobs isn’t what you think.

The real reason African youth aren’t landing tech jobs isn’t what you think.

Let's be honest.

It’s #not because we’re lazy.

It’s #not because we lack ambition.

And it’s definitely #not because there aren’t enough jobs.

Here’s the real story:

Every year, thousands of young people graduate with degrees in IT, Computer Science, Engineering...

But months later — they’re still home.

Jobless. Hustling. Losing confidence.

Why?

They spent years studying Java…

But the company hiring needed React.

They wrote a final-year project on databases…

But never built one that actually worked in the real world.

They passed exams…

But never solved a real business problem.

🎭 That’s what I call “The Trained but Jobless” Paradox.

You follow all the rules… and still get stuck.

But here’s the twist...

Somewhere else, a young person with no degree…

Just curiosity, YouTube, and a mobile phone…

Taught themselves how to build apps using no-code tools.

They never waited for anyone’s approval.

They just got relevant.

And now they’re earning.

Serving clients.

Building confidence.

Learning as they go.

💡 They became what I call Decentralized Self-Starters.

So, what if we didn’t have to choose between being "trained but stuck" or "self-taught and alone"?

What if we built systems that:

✅ Teach what the market actually needs

✅ Let you learn by building, not memorizing

✅ Connect skills to real job outcomes — fast

We need to stop teaching tools in isolation—and start teaching tech like a language of opportunity.

We need more platforms that are practical, accessible, and built with the African context in mind.

We need mentorship, internships, real-world projects, and bold partnerships that open doors, not just tabs.

That’s what we’re working on every single day at Fiqra Academy.

Because fixing this isn’t just about employment.

It’s about ownership.

It’s about power.

It’s about rewriting the future—with African youth holding the pen.

Because our youth don’t need another motivational speech — they need real tools and a real shot.

The skills are out there.

The talent is already here.

Now it’s about making the connection.

Let’s fix this.

We build the future which is not there, probably we have missed it somewhere on our way through.
